About this course
This is a one-day facilitated, interactive session suitable for all registered healthcare professionals who have completed their accredited spirometry course 3 years plus via any provider and have not completed their three-yearly update.
The training will be delivered by an accredited, experienced spirometry trainer

- Demographics
- Reproducibility
- Technical Acceptibility
- Actual interpretation of the readings
- Gaining good reproducible readings EVERY TIME – using the four-point rule:
- On the care and Maintenance of the equipment
- Update on COVID-19 regulations – latest cross- infection regulations
- How to achieve an accurate diagnosis
- Looking beyond the FEV1 for additional clues:
- Maximum Mid-Expiratory Flows (MMEFs)
- Lower Limit of Normal (LLN)
- Upper Limit of Normal (ULN)
- Forced Expiratory Time (FET)
- Accurately interpret complex spirometry readings in conjunction with complex patient presentations – group work
- Long COVID-19 presentations amongst other respiratory complex cases
- Revision
Students are encouraged to send though their own challenging readings and cases in advance of the training day to be critiqued and analysed on the day.
